One of the oldest parks in the area, Strathfield Park was undergoing several phases of rejuvenation, Council required a master plan for the integration of several new elements to improve passive and formal recreation provisions including substantial barbeque area, path upgrades and basket ball court.

A new passive recreation space adjacent the park cafe offers visitors a semi-enclosed area to meet and picnic without conflicting with adjacent sports uses.

A portion of the master plan is devoted to the upgrade of an existing sports court to provide users with basketball facilities which meet modern standards. Concept proposals for this area included provision of switchable basketball/netball posts, benches with shade trees, fencing and accessible pathways.
